Subject: Y Axis Homing With Power Glitch?

I have just now had time to get back to this project.

I was working this change over back in July.

Frist just a fast synopsis of the project.

K2CNC 8 feet water cutting table with DC brushless motors and encoders with a KFlop controller.

The Kflop was set up with KMotion and KMotion CNC.

We are changing over to Mach 3 but we would like to keep the KMotionCNC also.

I have worked with Mach 3 and stepper motors before but not a KFlop.

Current status

Have Mach3 homing and controlling the nozzle on (M03) and off (M05).

Up to testing G-code in Mach3 and simple program worked correctly dry run.

So power up the pump and ran the program all was good.

Shut down the pump and did some edits to the code.

Turned on the pump and I think there was a power glitch it knocked the KFlop off line had to reboot it and reboot the computer.

So after getting all items back on line and restarting Mach3 I tried to home all axis.

They homed the first time but then tried again and Mach3 homed the Z axis and it moved on to the Y axis.

The Y axis started to move to the home switch and then Mach3 error then reset.

Stated looking at this closely and the Y axis was not in the ~home location it should be.

So I started up KMotion and use it to home the Y axis and it would home the axis.

But this home was not located where it was home before.

Before the issues Y would move over to the switch stop and reverse and move away from the switch just to the point the switch would turn off home.

But now after Y reverses it moves away from the switch ~.3”.

Mach3 has to be reprogramed to work with this type of issues.

My boss that been work with the system using the KMotion.

Tells me this happens all the time when the system powers up Y axis home in a new location each time. And this is on the Y only.

What do we think?

Sorry this is so long!

Thank for your time to read all of this.

Tom

Hi Tom,

Not sure I follow all of that.  But pleas post your Homing routine and also how your Y switch is wired?

I think the first step should be to make sure it works correctly from within KMotion.exe.

Thanks Tom for the reply.

But we have ran in to a much bigger issues with the machine then the Y axis homing.

We can live with the homing issue for this time.

I will start a new thread on the new issue.
